Driving the Implementation of MEMR Regulation No. 8/2025 through Energy Management Workshops

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through EBTKE, in collaboration with GIZ under the Sustainable Energy Transition in Indonesia (SETI) project, held a Workshop on the Implementation of Energy Management under MEMR Regulation No. 8/2025 on October 2 and 9, 2025, in Jakarta.

This new regulation replaces MEMR Reg. No. 14/2012 and mandates large energy users—≥4,000 TOE per year for industries and ≥500 TOE for buildings—to implement systematic energy management. Key obligations include appointing certified energy managers, conducting regular energy audits, implementing recommendations, and reporting through the online Energy Management Reporting System (POME) integrated with SINERGI.

Among the new provisions, energy audits must cover at least one Significant Energy Users (SEU), and auditors are required to provide technically and economically feasible recommendations to ensure audit results can be implemented. It also introduces provisions on incentives and disincentives, financing mechanisms, and certification requirements for energy professionals.

The workshop gathered around 200 participants from industry, building management, and energy professionals to strengthen understanding and readiness for the new regulation.
