ISEW 2023: Driving Indonesia’s Sustainable Energy Future
The Indonesia Sustainable Energy Week (ISEW) 2023 was held from October 10-13 in Jakarta at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, serving as a dynamic platform to promote Indonesia’s energy transition toward a sustainable future. Co-hosted by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with support from German-Indonesian cooperation programs, the event brought together over 5,400 participants and more than 90 speakers both online and offline. The main theme focused on accelerating Indonesia’s energy transition through collaborative approaches, innovative renewable energy technologies, fiscal reforms, just transition principles including social inclusion, and private sector commitments. Key takeaways included the critical role of government and private sector collaboration, the need for coordinated policy and financing to unlock renewable energy potentials, attention to social and gender equity in the transition, and the importance of technical innovation and community empowerment in rural areas.
