SETI

Sustainable Energy Transition in Indonesia

SETI is a project that focuses on strengthening the sustainable energy ecosystem in Indonesia through the transformation of industries and the building sector, as well as accelerating renewable energy generation, and energy efficiency, hence contributing to the decarbonisation journey of Indonesia. Aligned with the Government of Indonesia (GoI) plan, SETI will implement several mitigation actions to accelerate RE and EE for industries and the building sector. SETI will focus on increasing the capacities for a sustainable transition by raising awareness of all stakeholders, providing technical assistance, and trainings on various levels, and facilitate matchmaking with financial institutions as well as technology providers. Focusing on the demand side, SETI aims not only to capacitate the political stakeholder, but also work with private sector champions and regional government pioneers to enable the RE and EE measures uptake in their business.

Main Pillars of SETI

Policy: Informed and integrated sustainable energy

Policy assistance seeks to address the development of the regulatory body to increase sustainable energy use in industry and buildings. Policy in SETI examines the technical and regulatory gaps, particularly related with renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) development.

Industry and Built Environment: Improve sustainable energy transition ecosystem
  1. Industry Energy Lab
Our focus on the industrial sector is based on the understanding that industrial decarbonization is vital. Not only is it crucial in curbing national emissions, as the industry contributes to 21.46% of the total emissions in 2019, but it also has the potential to reshape our production and consumption patterns to be more sustainable in the long run. Hence, to accelerate the achievement of industrial decarbonization, we have designed our interventions to assist industries in transitioning their energy use.
  2. Built Environment Energy Lab
The construction and operation of buildings is responsible for 40% of all energy-related
CO2 eq emissions and consumes 36% of the global final energy. It is acknowledged that city governments play a crucial role in becoming sustainable energy pioneers on urban or regional level. Hence, SETI will complement the GoI efforts to accelerate energy transition in the building sector by working with city champions.
Financing: Innovative and applicable sustainable energy

Sustainable Energy Finance of SETI focuses on supporting the development of energy transition finance towards the acceleration of decarbonization in industry and the built environment. The main objective of SETI Sustainable Energy Finance is to strengthen public and private financing instruments for RE & EE implementation. It also supports the realisation of transactions for RE and EE projects through partnership.
