Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia
The “Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia” (CASE) project aims to support a narrative change in the power sector towards an evidence-based energy transition that aligns with the Paris Agreement goals. Together with the Institute for Essential Services Reform (as the Indonesian consortium partner) and Directorate of Electricity, Telecommunications and Informatics Bappenas, the project harnesses available and or new research initiatives to generate evidence grounded in national realities that can persuade key players to support responsive strategic narrative reforms focused on Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (RE & EE) Upscaling, Power Sector Decarbonization and Sustainable Energy Finance through Long Term Energy Scenario and related communication discourse. These efforts will contribute to the transition of the power sector towards clean, affordable and secure energy for SEA.
Project Approach
The objectives of CASE are to propose evidence-based solutions to challenges that decision-makers are facing and to build societal support around those solutions in the region, by applying a joint fact-finding approach to narrow areas of disagreement through the involvement of expert analysis and dialogue. CASE furthermore aims to support coordination in the SEA power sector by providing technical and policy support and facilitating dialogue concerning energy issues. Five output areas have been defined to reflect key elements that are required to achieve a narrative change and drive the energy transition in the power sector: Research Clean Energy, Transparency, Build Trust, Provide Assistance, and Good Communication.
